WCCC Federation of Teachers-Local 2000 General Membership Meeting and Fall 2021 Class selection information

An Emergency general membership meeting is scheduled to hold on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 2:30 pm- 3:30 pm by Zoom. Log in will start at 2:00pm . Link will be sent out to your email by the union secretary on Wednesday, March 10th, 2021. This emergency general meeting will deliberate on and vote to ratify a TA for the Part Time wage reopener negotiation proposal. Further questions about this meeting, please call the union office at 313 964 2570 or 313 549 5773 during business hours of 9 am to 5 pm, M-F only.

Fall 2021 class selection will be on April 16th for Full time and Full time retiree faculty and April 19-20th for Part time faculty as in the schedule sent by the college to your college email. Please plan accordingly. For your seniority hours report, please call the union office at 313 549 5773 during business hours, M-F only. Prior to above dates, please check your college emails regularly for full course schedule to select from and videocollaborate web link for class selection log-in according to your discipline. Fall class selection will be virtual and remote due to the pandemic.

The college is still offering all faculty the option to get COVID19 vaccinated at the DR or NW campus from 8:30 am to 3 pm this Thursday, April 8th, 2021.

 

We will conduct Faculty Selection for all disciplines and programs except Nursing and Practical Nursing for the Fall 2021 Semester on the dates and times listedThis selection process will be conducted remotely. Instructions for accessing selection will be forthcoming directly to you in a separate college official email. Please regularly check your employer assigned college email.

There are several important items that you must remember regarding selection.
 
1.      All faculty must sign in only during the timeframe designated above.
2.      Faculty must be certified to teach the courses they select (If you are not certain about your certifications, please contact Human Resources prior to the event.)
3.      Faculty who began teaching during the Summer 2021 Semester and have not yet accumulated seniority hours should not attend the selection meeting.
4.      Faculty must choose their schedule carefully! After the selection meeting, faculty will not be allowed to modify their schedule.
5.      A faculty member who is unable to attend the selection meeting may utilize a proxy. The proxy must make class selections in conformance with teaching load requirements. District and campus administrators will not be allowed to proxy for absent faculty.
To prepare for the selection meetings, there are two other items to note:
 
o   Faculty seniority hours will be available at the AFT Office at (313) 549-5773 beginning Thursday, April 1, 2021.
o   Faculty may gain access to the Fall 2021 Schedule on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. To access the Fall 2021 Schedule, please follow the steps below:
o   Access your WCCCD email account to Microsoft Outlook
o   Click Go
o   Click Folder List
o   Click Public Folders
o   Click All Public Folders
o   Click Educational Affairs
o   Click Schedules
o   Click Fall 2021 Schedule
 
Your efforts by what you do each day with students in classrooms, laboratories, and within other modalities are much appreciated.
