Dear AFT Local 2000 Members,

The election committee has informed us that according to federal law, union elections ballots must be mailed to members and ballots must be mailed back to the union through the US Postal Service. This means that after the ballots are mailed out on April 1, 2021, in about 3 weeks, you will not be able to pick up a ballot if you do not receive one. You will have to contact the election committee at aft2000election2021@gmail.com to request a ballot to be mailed.

Therefore it is very important to make sure that AFT 2000 has the correct addresses for everyone. If you have any concerns about thisplease e-mail the election committee chairperson at aft2000election2021@gmail.com with your current address and any other contact information you wish the union office to have.

Anyone who paid union dues in Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 is currently eligible to vote. Anyone not working or paying dues in in Fall 2020 and also not working or paying dues in Spring 2021, but who did pay dues in any semester from Spring 2020 forward, is eligible to pay a fee to become an "Adjunct Member" and then would be eligible to vote. Please contact the union office at 313 964 2570 or 313 549 5773 to make arrangements.

In Solidarity,

Christian Nwamba
President, AFT 2000
